ZZ Top concert at Akron venue

Blues-rock trio ZZ top will come to Akron Civic Theatre for an Oct. 3 concert. Tickets are $55 and $37.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at Livenation.com and all Ticketmaster outlets.

Softball tournament for cancer patients

AUSTINTOWN

The third annual Saving Second Base Softball Tournament will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. Proceeds will benefit local cancer patients in treatment.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The national anthem will be sung by the ROCK Children’s Choir, with the first pitch thrown by local cancer survivor Dana Kosco.

Eleven teams have registered so far and there is room for a few more. The fee to enter a team, which must consist of 10 to 15 members, is $250 and includes lunch, water and a T-shirt. The tournament is double elimination and co-ed teams are permitted. There will also be a basket auction and a softball game for children.

‘MST 3000’ gang coming to theaters

The comedians of “Mystery Science Theater 3000” return to select movie theaters nationwide, including Tinseltown near Southern Park Mall, as they take on another bad piece of cinema with “RiffTrax Live: BIRDEMIC” at 8 p.m. Oct. 25.

The one-time show will feature the wise-cracking commentary of Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett.
