A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Aug. 15

Criminal mischief: A Knollwood Drive woman noticed damage to her plastic doorbell cover.

Aug. 16

Theft: A Venloe Drive man reported three $600 outboard motors stolen.

Harassment: An Edgewater Drive woman reported having been harassed.

Aug. 17

Identity theft: A township man discovered a $395 unauthorized charge to his credit card.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 17

Assault: A worker with a Southern Boulevard business alleged his employer shoved him against a wall, then slammed a door and struck him during a discussion related to injuries the accuser apparently had suffered on the job.

Burglary: To a residence in the 4200 block of Chester Drive by unknown means. Clothing, food and linens were missing.

Theft/criminal damaging: Two women tried to steal clothing from Buckle in the Southern Park Mall, damaging some of the merchandise.

Aggravated menacing: A Tod Avenue woman told officers someone threatened to have another person shoot her.

Vandalism: A key was used to cause extensive damage to a car in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue. The estimate was more than $3,000.

Auto theft: A 1986 Buick Century was stolen in the 100 block of Shadyside Drive.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Lake Park Road resulted in 21-year-old Brandon M. Perry’s arrest on a felony heroin-possession charge. Perry, of 3609 Neilson Ave., Youngstown, had in his car a brown powder and several rocks, one of which tested positive for cocaine, police said.

Recovered property: A 1986 Buick Century was found after having been reported stolen in the 100 block of Shadyside Drive.

Felonious assault: Frank A. Cassetto Jr., 42, of 4591 Waseka Lane, Boardman, faced charges of felonious assault and unlawful restraint after police answered a distress call on Stadler Court, where Cassetto’s girlfriend alleged that after refusing to leave during an argument, he pinned her to a bed and covered her nose and mouth with his hand, obstructing her airway. Beforehand, Cassetto had locked a door to prevent the accuser from getting away, a report said.

Trespassing: An Erskine Avenue woman said a neighbor has been trespassing daily on her property.

Theft: A man age 40 to 45 stole two Bluetooth devices from AT&T, 451 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A $422 laptop computer, a global-positioning-system unit and $5 were taken from a car in the 30 block of Maple Avenue.

Bad check: Felicia A. Daniels, 43, of 955 Afton Ave., Boardman, surrendered on a felony charge of passing a bad check after a Poland man received a $1,450 rent check that had been drawn on a closed account.

Domestic violence: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 19-year-old Kenneth M. Daniel II, 631 Benwood Ave., Youngstown, on a domestic-violence charge after a Pierce Drive woman reported having gotten threatening calls and text messages. She also alleged Daniel had threatened two members of her family, a report showed.

Theft: Isaac Black III of 748 Roxbury Ave., and Theron M. Paramore of 438 W. Judson Ave., were charged. The two 18-year-old Youngstown men were accused of stealing two boxes of condoms and a nutrition supplement from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Nadine L. Walker, 29, of 409 Rockdale Ave., Boardman, was charged with stealing a pill container and two other items from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Assault: A Boardman girl reported having been repeatedly punched in the head and back, then pushed to the ground during an argument at a Trenholm Road residence.

Stolen property: Carl Wallace, 43, of 538 Idora Ave., Youngstown, was picked up on U.S. Route 224 on misdemeanor charges of theft and receiving stolen property after T-shirts and jerseys were stolen from Finish Line in the Southern Park Mall. Wallace also had shirts that had been stolen from an Eastwood Mall store, police said.

Aug. 19

Theft: A 16-year-old Youngstown boy was charged with stealing a $40 denim vest from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Arrest: Officers responding to a suspicious person at a South Avenue motel took into custody 36-year-old Nancy E. Bunch of Littleton, W.Va., on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property. Bunch, who also faced two misdemeanor drug counts, had a stolen credit card as well as several syringes and a digital scale, a report showed.

Domestic violence: Mallory C. Konovsky, 24, of 407 Rockdale Ave., Boardman, was charged with felonious assault and domestic violence, and Randolph S. Phillips, 26, same address, faced a domestic-violence charge after Phillips alleged Konovsky had struck his left arm with a frying pan during an argument. Konovsky, who police said had a bruise and a scrape, alleged Phillips had struck her.

Burglary: Occurred in the 7400 block of Salinas Trail after someone removed a rear-window screen. Stolen was a Sony PlayStation 2 system.

Theft: A camera and related equipment were removed from a vehicle in the 4600 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A woman in her mid-30s stole $166 worth of women’s clothing from Macy’s.

Theft/criminal damaging: A former tenant of a Meadowbrook Avenue apartment reportedly removed a washing machine and dryer and damaged property.

Criminal damaging: A business sign was damaged in the 6200 block of Market Street.

Theft: A wallet and a checkbook were removed from a vehicle in the 300 block of Annawan Lane.

Assault: A man reported four men had assaulted him in the 7300 block of Oregon Trail, though he provided few details. Police, however, said the accuser had a torn shirt and scrapes to his elbows.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Jaguar Drive led to citations against Evan A. Smith, 21, of 6225 Bedell Drive, Berlin Center, and Daniel N. Slagle III, also 21, of 333 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman. Both faced misdemeanor drug charges.

Identity fraud: Brent J. Whan, 31, of 116 Linden Ave., Youngstown, surrendered on a felony charge after a Charles Avenue man found out his signature had been forged on a lease agreement, resulting in a civil suit against the accuser seeking nearly $90,000 in damages from him.

Criminal damaging: Someone ransacked a car in the 4500 block of Euclid Boulevard.

Auto theft: A 1988 Oldsmobile Regency was stolen in the 4000 block of South Avenue.

Aug. 20

Menacing: An employee with a South Avenue restaurant reported receiving a series of harassing text messages after having asked a customer to leave.

Arrest: Leon Reynolds, 38, of 4884 Westchester Drive, Austintown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on a felony charge of violating a protection order. An Arden Boulevard woman alleged Reynolds had made and sent from jail unwanted calls and letters, some containing threats, in violation of the order.

Theft: An air-conditioning unit, an upright vacuum cleaner and a 20-inch TV were taken from an apartment in the 4900 block of Southern Boulevard.

Identity fraud: Police booked 31-year-old Traci L. Schenker, 4688 Weaver Road, Berlin Center, on a felony identity-fraud count at the conclusion of an investigation in which a Boardman woman learned in 2010 that her information had been used via computer without consent to secure loans at four car dealerships.

Possible fraud: Authorities received information that in an effort to be seen by a doctor, three South Carolina residents used fraudulent means during the registration process at St. Elizabeth Health Center’s Boardman Campus, 8401 Market St.

Assault: A Centervale Avenue girl said another girl struck the accuser’s stomach and pulled her hair during a fight.

Misuse of a credit card: A Lockwood Boulevard woman learned that someone in Luxembourg tried to make four transactions with her card.

Menacing: An Erskine Avenue woman reported a neighbor has been harassing her dog.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 4100 block of Glenwoods Court was found with a damaged driver’s-side door.

Theft: A Shelton, Conn., woman found out her debit card had been used without permission at a business in the Shops at Boardman Park.

Attempted theft: A Euclid Boulevard man noticed a broken vehicle window, apparently after someone had tried to steal property in the car.

Arrest: Authorities responding to a domestic situation on Stanton Avenue arrested 31-year-old Bernita K. Carter, 209 Carroll St., Youngstown. Trumbull County authorities accused Carter of failing to appear in court on a theft count.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a Youngstown-Poland Road bank reported a customer threatened to kill him after becoming angry about a procedure for cashing money.

Theft: Authorities charged 57-year-old Ann M. Sorice, 6775 S. Pricetown Road, Berlin Center, with stealing about $23 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Drug paraphernalia: Officers cited Nico V. Graziani, 18, of 4055 South Ave., Boardman, after responding to an underage drinking party at the home. A lunch tray was found covered with suspected marijuana residue, a report said.
