Horticultural show set by men’s garden club


YOUNGSTOWN

The Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown is sponsoring its 48th Annual Horticultural Show on Saturday and Sunday at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park. The event is free and open to the public.

There will be 14 judging sections consisting of vegetables, ornamentals, fruits, annuals, perennials and biennials, dahlias, bulbs and tubers, roses, potted plants, bonsai, cacti, succulents, woody plants and hanging containers.

Participation is open to all; entries must be received between 7 and 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Late entries will be displayed but not judged.

Awards will be given in the following categories: sectional awards, given to entries from each section of the competition; Best of Show award, chosen from all sectional winners; Sweepstakes Award, determined by points; and the Larry Whetson Heaviest Edible Tomato award, $25 sponsored by the Greier Ag Center Inc., Canfield.

There also will be youth gardener awards for ages 16 and under for sectional and Best of Show.
