Yopungstown Foundation commits college dollars for Youngstown students

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Foundation announced a program this morning to provide “last dollar” scholarships for Youngstown City Schools students to attend college.

Through YSTAR, the foundation will provide up to $3,000 of last-dollar funding to all city school students beginning with the class of 2016. Funds can only be used to attend Youngstown State University and Eastern Gateway Community College.

Last dollar scholarships fill the gap between financial aid and other tuition and fee expenses, including parking and books. The foundation for now has committed $3 million for this effort.
