Coitsville Road standoff ends peacefully, family safe

CAMPBELL

A standoff with police that began late Monday at 330 Coitsville Road ended peacefully about 8:30 today.

Rudy Klein, 43, was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for evaluation following the domestic disturbance. Police said he had a shotgun and the family was barricaded upstairs in a bedroom.

Police distracted him while they put a ladder to an upstairs window and got out the mother and two teenage sons.

Two SWAT teams and a hostage negotiation team were involved in the nine-hour effort.
