Ohio teen sentenced to more time in group home death
HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — A teen convicted of involuntary manslaughter in a fellow group home resident’s beating death in southwest Ohio will have to serve nearly two more months in jail.
Butler County’s prosecutor says 18-year-old Lance Tiernan was sentenced today in Hamilton. He’s already been in jail for more than eight months, and was ordered to serve another 54 days.
He’d been charged with murder in 16-year-old Anthony Parker’s death and could have received up life in prison if convicted. But jurors in adult court found him guilty of the lesser charge.
Authorities say Tiernan slammed Parker to the floor Dec. 19. Parker died Dec. 28 of head injuries.
His attorney says the case now goes back to juvenile court where a judge can accept or reject it.
