Carnival to benefit Rescue Mission

POLAND

Olivia Helmic, 7, plans to make a difference for the homeless at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley with a backyard carnival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at 8793 Woodland Drive.

All proceeds will benefit the mission’s general fund.

The mission has had an increase of those needing overnight shelter in recent months and a decrease in giving this year.

There will be games, a basket auction, prizes, food, clowns and homemade jams for sale.

Olivia shared her concern to her grandmother, Pam Coover; had a tour of the mission with her family; and chose to host an event to help the people in need.
