Big inning helps Texas remain perfect in LLWS

S. WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.

San Antonio remained unbeaten at the Little League World Series, breaking open a tight game with a six-run fourth inning Sunday in a 13-3 victory over New Castle, Ind.

Leading 3-2 in the top of the fourth, Texas took advantage of four hits, two walks and a hit batter to account for its big inning. Landry Wideman, Seth Morrow, Carter Elliot and Mason Moore had RBIs for the San Antonio sluggers in the fourth.

Jordan Cardenas added a two-run homer in the sixth.

The offensive outbreak in the sixth broke a 1 for 18 stretch with runners in scoring position.

The Southwest champions took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first on Zachary Sanchez’s two-run homer and an Indiana error.

Hunter McCubbins clubbed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first for Indiana, which was must now play an elimination game tonight against Connecticut.

Indiana manager Tim Porter isn’t worried. His team’s improbable run to the World Series began as the eighth seed at states.

Tennessee 9, California 6

Jayson Brown drove in two runs with a two-out triple and Brock Myers followed with a two-run homer to help unbeaten Goodlettsville, Tenn., defeat Petaluma, Calif., 9-6 on Sunday at the Little League World Series.

With the score tied 5-5, Brown lunged after a high 1-2 pitch for the clutch hit just past diving first baseman Danny Marzo down the right field line.

Myers then smacked his homer to left. The 12-year-old shortstop raced around the basepaths in delight, arms oustretched as his happy teammates waited for him at the plate.

Panama 8, Canada 3

James Gonzalez had two homers and six RBIs, including a grand slam, and Aguadulce, Panama, defeated Vancouver, British Columbia, 8-3 on Sunday to stay unbeaten at the Little League World Series.

After leaving the bases loaded and having a run taken off the board in the first due to a runner leaving early, Panama broke out for six in the second. Carlos Flavio started the outburst with a solo homer. Edisson Gonzalez also had an RBI single before James Gonzalez hit his grand slam.

Panama pitching limited a Canada team that scored 13 runs in a win Friday over Mexico. Edisson Gonzalez and Daniel Cruz combined for 13 strikeouts.

Canada’s Cole Dalla-Zanna drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk in the sixth, but Cruz ended the game with a strikeout.
