Senior Day at mall

BOARDMAN

Southern Park Mall will have its annual Senior Day on Wednesday with breakfast, health screenings, entertainment and exhibitors from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free event begins with breakfast, courtesy of Bob Evans. Other activities include live music and dancing with John Gabriele’s “one-man band;” complimentary antique appraisals by David Dangerfield, CAGA Certified Appraiser; more than 35 senior-related exhibitors providing information and giveaways to attendees; and complimentary Coney Island hot dogs served at noon.

8th-grade mentors

BOARDMAN

A mentorship program for all Boardman fifth-grade students will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Boardman Center Middle School on Market Street across from Southern Park Mall. During that time, eighth-grade students will meet with groups of fifth-graders to ease the transition from elementary to middle school.

Job discrimination

YOUNGSTOWN

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s mobile outreach center will visit the Youngstown unit of the NAACP from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday to accept complaints of employment discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and older), disability or retaliation.

The EEOC considers retaliation the firing of a worker who complained about job discrimination, gave evidence in a job-discrimination matter or filed a charge of job discrimination with the commission.

To schedule an appointment, call 330-782-9777, or email aacpyoungstown@yahoo.com. Walk-ins also are accepted. The local unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is in Suite 721 in the former PNC Bank Building at Wick Avenue and Commerce Street, downtown.
