Edinburg
One man is dead after he was pinned between his tractor trailer and another.
The Ravenna Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident just after 2 p.m. Saturday in the eastbound rest area of Interstate 76, about 12 miles west of Lake Milton.
Frank C. Shackelford, 57 of Lake Geneva, Wis., had parked his tractor trailer in a commercial parking space behind another tractor trailer in front of the rest area service building, according to a news release.
After exiting the truck, Shackelford walked in front of the cab, and his truck rolled forward, pinning him against the trailer of the vehicle in front. Shackelford died as a result of his injuries. The driver in the other vehicle was not injured and had not been in the driver’s seat at the time of the incident.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the emergency brakes on Shackelford’s truck were not engaged.
The investigation is ongoing.
