Evans City soldier killed in explosion


EVANS CITY, PA.

A 39-year-old Evans City soldier has been killed in an explosion in Afghanistan.

Army Staff Sgt. Eric Holman died Wednesday in Ghazni Province, according to the Department of Defense.

The Pentagon says Holman died of wounds sustained from an enemy’s improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 192nd Ordnance Battalion, 52nd Ordnance Group with the 20th Support Command at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Evans City is about 13 miles southwest of Butler in Butler County.
