Children host party to honor the Hendersons

Samuel and Peggy M. Henderson of Boardman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 18 at Blue Wolf Banquet Center.

The couple’s children, Patsy V. Payden of Atlanta and Evelyn Boykin of Cleveland, hosted the event.

The couple also have five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Henderson married the former Peggy Smith on Aug. 18, 1962, in Youngstown.

Mrs. Henderson retired in 1992 from RMI in Niles, where she was a secretary. Then she became a sales representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics, retiring in 2009 as a director. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education at Youngstown State University in 1975 and is a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and a Golden Life member of Delta Sigma Theta.

Mr. Henderson worked for Burton Supply Co. in Youngstown until 1972 and retired in 2011 from Stadium Auto Group, where he worked in sales. He belongs to Tabernacle Baptist Church in Youngstown.
