The Diocese of Youngstown and Walsh University will host a one-day conference on Blessed John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body.”

The program will take place Sept. 15 at Barrette Business and Community Center at Walsh.

“Theology of the Body” is the working title given to a series of 129 short talks delivered by John Paul II between 1979-1984.

The talks provide a biblical reflection on the meaning of human embodiment as male and female, and how God reveals his mystery through the human body. The day will begin with Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel followed by registration and morning prayer.

Keynote speakers will discuss the teachings of Blessed John Paul II on the human person and explore what it means to be created in God’s image in body and spirit.

Speakers are the Rev. Brian Bransfield, associate general secretary of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops; Dr. Janet E. Smith, who holds the Father Michael J. McGivney Chair of Life Ethics at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit; and Bill Donaghy, a speaker for the Theology of the Body Institute.

Lunch is included in the $25 registration cost. Registration must be received by Sept. 10.

Online registration is at www.walsh.edu/tob. For details, call the diocese at 330-744-8451.
