EGCC hires administrator

Eastern Gateway Community College has hired Sherrilyn Farkas VanTassel as vice president for administrative services.

A graduate of the former Jefferson Technical College, VanTassel has come full circle from being a student at the college to filling a top administrative position. She oversees human resources, buildings and grounds, contracts and security.

“Sherri is committed to the development of people. Her talents include belief, focus, relationship building and communications,” said Laura Meeks, Eastern Gateway president.

Before joining Eastern Gateway, VanTassel served for seven years as executive director of Russell Nesbitt Services Inc. in Wheeling. She was responsible for all administrative, contractual, vocational, habilitation and residential operations serving individuals with disabilities.

In addition to maintaining a private law practice, she has worked in legal services for the Legal Aid of WV Inc., Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort and Northwood Health Systems Inc.
