Applications sought for teacher award

Eastern Ohio P-16 Partnership for Education and The Turning Foundation of Turning Technologies is accepting applications for the third annual “Innovative Teacher of the Year” award.
The contest seeks creative teachers who are using 21st-century teaching skills to enhance their students’ classroom experience.
Applications are being accepted from prekindergarten through 12th-grade teachers in the public, private or charter school sector
Pre-K-12 library media specialists, technology coordinators and home-school educators also may apply. To be eligible, teachers must teach in the P-16 footprint, which includes Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Contest entries are not limited to one application, and teachers can self-nominate.
Applications are available at www.easternohiop16.org or by emailing info@easternohiop16.org. The contest ends Sept. 14.
The top three entrants will receive an invitation to the Oct. 16 Excellence in Education luncheon, where the winner will be announced.
The top prize will be a Turning Technologies Student Response System for the teacher’s entire class. Other prizes include electronic tablets.
