Warren girl hospitalized after being struck by car in front of her home

WARREN — A 23-month-old Jefferson Street Southwest girl is in Akron Children’s Hospital with injuries she received after she was struck by a car in front of her house at 6:20 p.m. Thursday.

Mariah Dickey of the 1300 block of Jefferson was playing in her driveway when she ran into the street, Warren police said. The car driver, James Herod Jr., 46, of Upland Avenue, Youngstown, then drove away but returned in about 10 minutes, police said.

Police later talked to the driver at a house in the 1600 block of Jefferson and recorded the interview.

The child remained at the hospital late this evening, but the hospital was unable to give her condition.
