Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer’s Association (Greater East Ohio Chapter) is registering teams for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Boardman Park on Oct. 13.

Check-in is at 8:30 a.m. and the opening ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m.

This walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Association care, support and research programs. Individuals from all sectors of the community are encouraged to get involved.

Alzheimer’s is a growing epidemic and is now the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. There is currently no treatment to stop or slow Alzheimer’s, but efforts to raise funds and awareness will help to advance research to find a cure to end this disease, while providing local support services and programs for families.

There is no cost to sign up for this event, however, the walk offers opportunities for teams and individuals to raise funds for Alzheimer’s disease through pledge-based efforts asking for donations from family, co-workers and friends or third-party special events.

Those interested in participating should contact Helen Paes at 330-533-3300 or e-mail hpaes@alz.org. Teams may also register online at www.alz.org/walk.
