Holy Family School students Katherine Kali and her brother, Andrew, both recently competed in the National Motocross Championships held in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

The competition included 24 riders from across the nation competing for the title during the week-long event. The duo had successfully finished in an advanced position in their respective classes in several local and regional competitions in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky. Katherine, 11, qualified for the 9 to 11-year-old girls class and Andrew, 6, qualified for the 4 to 6-year-old boys stock division.

“It’s a gradual process. They mainly ride locally and progressed as they got better. It’s impressive. It’s very stressful at times and it takes a lot of hard work and effort. Their progression has been great. It’s really amazing,” said their father, Rick.

Though Katherine and Andrew have both proven to be impressive competitors in motocross, they are still open to a variety of possibilities for their future in the sport.

“We’ll have to wait and see. It’s a very competitive sport and it’s not seasonal — it’s an all-year sport. We don’t know yet where we’re headed,” said Rick.
