Boys golf team defeats Niles 158-199

The Austintown boys golf team began its 2012 season by defeating Niles 158-199 at the Duck Creek Golf Course on Aug. 18. Leading the team was Adam Catauro with a round of 38, closely followed by Matt Matasy with a score of 39. Joey Shushock carded a score of 40, while and Cameron Gumble had a 41.

Fitch football pre-sale football tickets available

Pre-sale tickets are now available for purchase for both Fitch football home and away games. To purchase tickets for home games, visit Aardvark on Mahoning Avenue or Select Sportswear on Couth Raccoon Road, during regular business hours, Tuesdays through Fridays.

Also, all Austintown local schools will be selling tickets to all home games. Call your local school for more information. Away game tickets will be on sale at Fitch High School on Thursdays and Fridays inside the school during lunch or at the Fitch South Circle ticket booth Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m.

1962 Fitch football reunion is Sept. 7-8

A reunion celebrating the 1962 Austintown Fitch Steel Valley Conference Championship Football Team will occur on Sept. 7-8. BB Baseball to host baseball camp

BB Baseball will be conducting a instructional camp tomorrow at the Westminster College baseball field in Wilmington, Pa. The camp instructors will be Westminster head baseball coach Tim Mulligan and professional baseball scout and head coach at Carnegie Mellon University, Claudio Reilsono. Football tickets to go on sale

Season tickets for Austintown Fitch football games will be on sale this Thursday and Friday from 5-7:30 p.m. at the South Circle ticket office. The cost is $36 regular price and $30 for senior citizens for each season package and includes six home games. Other ticket prices for the 2012 season are $7 reserved, $6 general admission, and $4 for students (presale only).

Football tickets to Fitch football home games will be available at the following locations: Fitch High School (Thursdays and Fridays during lunch hours), AMS (Fridays in the main office), Frank Ohl (Thursdays and Fridays in the main office), or the Austintown community center (Thursdays from 10 a.m.– 3 p.m.)

5K run to benefit sports team

The Lowellville volleyball team will be hosting Run with the Rockets, a 5K run and 1-mile fun walk in Lowellville today. For more information, visit www.runwiththerockets.yolasite.com.

Mooney football to play St. Ignatius

Defending state champion Cardinal Mooney will open its 2012 football season with a showdown against defending Division I state champion Cleveland St. Ignatius Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The game is part of a doubleheader slated as the 44th Charity Game sponsored by the Cleveland Browns’ Foundation.

St. Ignatius and Cardinal Mooney have won 19 Ohio state championships between them. Tickets for the match-up are $10 in advance and $12 on game day and are available through the school treasurer’s office. One ticket will be good for both games. The first game of the day will feature North Royalton and Broadview Heights at 2 p.m.
