CANFIELD
The Mahoning Veterans Memorial at the Canfield Fairgrounds is seeking help to set up informational tents for veterans’ organizations at the upcoming Canfield Fair.
Boy Scout troops, church groups and other organizations and individuals who want to help should meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial, the coordinating body for veterans’ activities at the fair, on Green Drive along state Route 46.
Ohio National Guard personnel who traditionally set up the tents are deployed and unavailable, said John Brown of AMVETS Post 44 in Struthers.
Dog agility trials

The American Kennel Club will host dog agility trials from 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Mayor Ralph A. Infante Wellness Center, 213 Sharkey Road.
During the trials, dogs and their handlers will compete for qualifying runs on various courses. As the teams earn qualifying runs, they will move throughout the titles of novice, open, excellent and advanced. The trials are open to the public, and there are no admission or parking fees. Only dogs entered in the trials will be allowed in the building.
The trials are sponsored by the Youngstown All Breed Training Club, based in North Jackson. The event has attracted more than 300 teams from throughout Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Elections board meeting
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning County Board of Elections will meet at 7 a.m. Monday to officially certify all the candidates, issues and liquor options submitted for the Nov. 6 general election. Candidates for Mahoning County Court judge as well as those proposing issues and options on the fall ballot had until Aug. 8 to provide the proper documentation to the board of elections. All of the proposed candidates, issues and options meet the requirements to get on the November ballot, said board Director Joyce Kale-Pesta.
Paving bids sought

Trustees authorized the township clerk to advertise for bids for this year’s road paving project. Portions of Coblentz Drive, Katahdin Drive and Lee Run Road will be paved, completing work that was started last year, said township Administrator James Scharville.
