Police warn of door-to-door magazine scam

Police are warning residents to watch out for a possible magazine-selling scam.

Officers were called to Martin Mobile Home Park on South Avenue on Monday to take a report from mobile home resident who said on Aug. 10 a man came to his door and said he was selling magazines for Youngstown State University.

The resident gave the man $40 for two subscriptions costing $25, and the seller gave him $5 in change and drove off without giving the rest of the change, police said.

Another resident also said she had given the seller money for magazine subscriptions, according to reports.
