Library will offer legal-advice clinics

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Free legal-advice clinics will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday and Oct. 15 and Dec. 17 at the Newport public library branch, 3720 Market St.

The clinics will be staffed by lawyers from the Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell Ltd. law firm, who are volunteering their time, and Community Legal Aid Services Inc.

With individual consultations lasting at least 20 minutes, the lawyers will be able to advise participants concerning family, consumer, landlord-tenant, administrative and public-benefits law.

Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. at the library on each clinic day, and participants will be asked to complete a form that seeks information about them and the nature of their legal concern. Pre-registration also is available by calling 800-998-9454.

Participants are asked to bring with them any documents and information related to their legal concern. They will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those who meet Community Legal Aid’s income eligibility guidelines may be eligible for follow-up legal services from CLAS.

Among the participating lawyers are: Deborah Kaufmann, Neil Schor, Shawna L’Italien, George Milich, Paul Dutton, Matthew Vansuch, Alan Wenger, Megan Graff and Stephen Kocon, all from HHM; and Jennifer van Dulmen from CLAS.
