Seeking donations of school supplies

YOUNGSTOWN

Beatitude House is seeking donations of school supplies to stock a mock store in the organization’s administrative offices at 238 Tod Lane on the campus of St. Edward Parish, where the homeless and disadvantaged students it serves can “shop.”

Items needed include new or gently used school uniforms (blue or tan pants/shorts and white, red or light blue polo shirts), shoes, new socks and new underwear. The program serves children in preschool through high school, so all sizes are accepted. Also needed are all classroom supplies such as notebooks, folders and three-ring binders.

People interested in donating can bring items to the administrative offices from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. All items must be received by Wednesday. For information, call Jennifer Roberts at 330-744-3147.

Cops probe robbery

Austintown

Township police are investigating the robbery of BP Fast Trac, 890 N. Canfield-Niles Road, at 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

A white male wearing a white T-shirt and baggy jeans robbed the store of an undetermined amount of cash. He picked up a snack cake and placed in on the front counter along with a note demanding money from the cashier, according to a police report. He indicated to the cashier he had a weapon, though one was never shown.

He grabbed the cash then ran to the parking lot of a motel behind the business, where he got into a blue or gray Ford Focus or Chevrolet Cobalt, police said.
