Man gets prison term for robbery at Niles store

WARREN — Ronald E. Aiosa, 44, of Ann Avenue, Niles, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a robbery at the Niles Sparkle Market in which he punched the store manager and tried to flee with eight diapers.

Aiosa pleaded guilty earlier in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to one count of robbery.

Niles police said the 22-year-old manager of the North Main Street store saw Aiosa leaving with merchandise in his pockets last December and asked him what he had.

Aiosa took out two 10 packs of a powdered drink mix, then punched the manager in the shoulder and ran. The manager jumped on Aiosa’s back and wrestled him to the sidewalk. Eight stolen diapers were found in Aiosa’s pockets.
