12 receive scholarships from Bethel Lutheran

Twelve college students from Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, received $10,800 in educational assistance at the July 24 Sunday service. Students received scholarships from each of two funds, the church’s endowment fund and the Mickey Schuster Scholarship Fund.
Recipients of the scholarships and their school affiliations and degrees in pursuit follow: Colleen Sokoloski, Youngstown State University, music; Lauren Adair, YSU, psychology; Sara Adair, University of Akron, social work; Thomas Crew, Ohio State University, music; Matthew Gleydura, YSU, communication; Joshua Midgley, Miami Ohio University, business/finance; Paige Rassega, YSU, business marketing; Peter J. Rassega, YSU, business economics; Jaclyn Weaver, YSU, physical/health education; Elizabeth Wiesner, OSU, fashion/retail; Kari Huddleston, YSU, elementary education; and Ashley Klase, YSU, early childhood education.
The congregation also completed full tuition payment for Jonathan Weaver, who graduated from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. Weaver was ordained Sept. 10, 2011, and is serving as associate minister at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
Bethel is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and their pastor is the Rev. Langley Collins.
