Police: Man electrocuted while taking scrap

MONTROSE, Pa. (AP) — Police say a New York man is dead after coming into contact with high-voltage wires while trying to steal wire and scrap metal from a Pennsylvania manufacturing site.

Pennsylvania State Police say 29-year-old John Santacroce, of Lansing Station, N.Y., was electrocuted Saturday night in Bridgewater Township, just across the border in Susquehanna County.

Investigators say Santacroce was transported to a New York hospital where he died early Sunday.

Troopers tell The Times-Tribune of Scranton that a person who was with Santacroce at the time alerted authorities.
