‘Ticked Off’ author to sign books, speak

Janet L. DeCesare, author of “Ticked Off,” a book about her struggle in trying to unravel the mysterious illness known as Lyme disease, will sign her book at the following locations: Cortland S.C.O.P.E., 125 N. Bank St., at noon Friday, including a luncheon and talk; and Jefferson Nursing Home, 222 E. Beech St., Jefferson, Ohio, at 10 a.m. Aug. 25, including a lecture.

DeCesare is a resident of Mineral Ridge.

Author Brookes sells humorous ‘hick lit’

Lindsey Brookes, a graduate of East Palestine High School and a romance writer, recently sold her “hick lit” work, “Jimmie Joe Johnson: Manwhore,” to Kensington Publishing.

“Manwhore” is a humorous novel set in the fictional town of Possum Hollow, Ala. Kensington plans to contract for two more books in the Possum Hollow series.

Brookes is a member of Romance Writers of America and has been a finalist in or won more than 75 RWA-affiliated contests. The author also has won Harlequin’s Great American Romance Novel contest.

Brookes has three other contemporary romances for sale through Amazon Kindle and has written several adult novels under the pen name Kat Brookes.

Two local authors to sign at Pa. mall

HERMITAGE, PA.

Susan Dexter, an author from New Castle, Pa., will sign her Amazon CreateSpace book, “The Ring of Allaire,” and Cathy Seckman of East Liverpool will sign her Cool Well Press book, “Weirdo World,” from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Something’s Brewin’ in the Shenango Valley Mall.

Both authors will have copies of their books for sale. These and other books by the authors are available as e-books for Kindle and Nook.

Billy Crystal writing a book on aging

Actor and comedian Billy Crystal is transforming his 65th birthday into a book, and maybe even a stage show.

Crystal has an agreement with Henry Holt and Company for a book that will be part memoir, part meditation — with jokes — about getting older.
