Scrappers bark past Muckdogs

A five-run seventh inning helped lead the Mahoning Valley Scrappers over the Batavia Muckdogs, 7-3, on Friday night.

Jeremy Lucas scored two runs and hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to open up the Mahoning Valley (24-27) scoring. Robel Garcia collected a pair of hits and Jairo Kelly had two RBIs.

Starting pitcher Luis Morel went 42/3 innings, allowed two earned runs on five hits and struck out five batters.

James Stokes pitched 21/3 innings of hitless ball to earn his first win. Rafael Holmbert pitched the eighth and ninth innings and had four strikeouts.
