Pa. man guilty of shooting that paralyzed ex-girlfriend

CRABTREE, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man has been convicted of attempted murder for shooting his now-paralyzed ex-girlfriend after she woke up in her car in her mother’s driveway.

Forty-five-year-old Lawrence Redman, of Greensburg, denied purposely shooting 28-year-old Anamarie Henderson about 6 a.m. Sept. 24, 2011, before he was convicted Thursday.

Henderson’s attorney contends the couple argued while barhopping the night before and that Redman merely went to get his wallet and gun from the car after Henderson drove away without him from a bar.

Redman claims he shot Henderson only after she woke up and came after him with a knife and lunged toward warning shots he was firing.

Westmoreland County prosecutors say police found no knife and that Redman simply shot the woman four times because he was angry she had left him outside the bar.
