The Akron Children’s Hospital brought young and experienced golfers together for a good cause at the Poland Lake Club Aug. 1.
“This event itself is a fundraiser for Akron Children’s Hospital. It’s called Clubs for Kids — we wanted to have an event for children in the community. The hospital turns no one away so it’s important to have a community event for the hospital,” said Steering Committee member Susan Berny.
Members of the Youngstown State University Women’s Golf team helped participants sharpen their skills throughout the day.
“We helped with chipping and putting. It was really fun. It’s always good to help kids, and they picked it up really fast,” said Angela Molaskey.
Childrens’ faces lit up with excitement as they golfed with their friends and family throughout the day. They also received gifts for their participation. Adults also showed off their inner Tiger Woods on the green in support of the hospital. Members of the Tod Foundation also teed off to help raise money.
“It feels great and it’s a good experience for kids and adults enjoy it as well,” said Tod Foundation member David Tod III,
Parents were thrilled to be able to donate their time and effort to the hospital, while giving their children the opportunity to enjoy a game of golf.
“My kids have used the kids hospital and I thought it was an excellent way to get involved and support the people who helped us out,” said Angie Borden.
