Canfield 10U wins state title

Neighbors | Submitted.The Canfield 10U Boys’ District Team won thae 9/10 Ohio Little League State Championship game on Aug. 3. Canfield 10U was 14-0 this season, outscoring its opponents 125-29. The Canfield 10U boys district team won the 9/10 Ohio Little League state championship on Aug. 3.

Brayden Beck pitched five complete innings, giving up three hits and Cole Rothbauer pitched a scoreless sixth inning.

No one scored in the game until Evan Skripac and Dominic Pilolli led off the bottom of third inning with consecutive singles. A walk and an error resulted in the Cardinals scoring three runs in the inning. After scoring another run in the fourth inning, Canfield extended its lead to 8-2 in the fifth inning thanks to a big hit from Ethan Fletcher with the bases loaded.

Adding to the defensive effort were Seth Velker, McCoy Watkins, Jake Kowal, Walt Sweeney, Richie Hofus and Jimmy Maass.

Starting with the Chuck Schaefer Tournament in Boardman and ending with the state tournament, Canfield 10U was 14-0, outscoring its opponents 125-29.
