Youngstown Foundation awards more than $500K to area organizations


YOUNGSTOWN — Area organizations have been awarded grants totaling $534,396 by the Distribution Committee of The Youngstown Foundation.

The grants, which includes Hine Memorial Fund recipients, were approved at a June 12 meeting and range from $1,500 to $125,000.

The Youngstown Foundation provides financial assistance to charitable, scientific and educational institutions that promote the mental, moral and physical well-being of the inhabitants of the city and vicinity.

The foundation is the largest community foundation in the Valley, the fourth oldest in the country, and ranked in the top 100 nationally. With approximately $85 million in charitable funds, close to $4.1 million in grants is awarded annually.
