Hence Cheris charged in brother's stabbing

YOUNGSTOWN

A man is charged with felonious assault in the stabbing of his brother.

Youngstown police arrested Hence Cheris, 54, at an Ellenwood Avenue address at 10:08 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers got to the home, they found Hence Cheris sitting on the porch and his brother, Tony Cheris, lying on the sidewalk nearby. He was covered in blood and unresponsive.

Police said a neighbor reported that Tony Cheris knocked on his door and said his brother stabbed him. Then he left the porch and collapsed.

Officers followed a blood trail to the kitchen, where they found a box cutter, a police report says.

Hence Cheris was taken to the Mahoning County Jail.

Tony Cheris was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. The hospital had no information on his condition.
