Electrical fire

AUSTINTOWN

Firefighters responded to an electrical fire shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday at 3901 Claridge Drive after the home was struck by lightning.

Lt. Bob Williams said lightning caused a surge in electricity throughout the home. The surge caused a mattress, which was next to an electrical outlet, to catch fire in an upstairs room.

Williams said the fire was confined to one room and no one was injured.

BOARDMAN

A 20-year-old man told police he was the victim of an aggravated robbery when he was approached by four men who asked if he had any money, then drew a handgun and repeated the inquiry, according to police.

Police said the robbery occurred in the 4000 block of Glenwood Avenue about 11 p.m. Tuesday when the victim said he had been dropped off after work and was walking up the driveway.

The victim said he offered his shoes to the men, but the men turned and walked south, records show.
