The victims, a 22-year-old male and two brothers also in their early 20s, were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.
Police were able to obtain statements from two of the three victims, but the third man was taken into surgery and unable to speak with police.
According to police reports, officers were called to the area of Dogwood Lane and Maplewood Court at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday for car loads of people about to fight. Shots rang out before officers arrived.
Officers arrived to find people running in all directions throughout the Rockford Village housing development.
Officers also found a trail of blood leading to an apartment, where they found one victim bleeding from bullet wounds to his legs and back.
The victim told police he went to the area inside Rockford Village to watch a group of females fight. He said he was leaving when he heard an unidentified man yell, “Ain’t nobody coming out here and regulating.”
What followed was a series of gunshots, according to police
The victim said he felt a burning pain in his legs and back, and he ran to a nearby home for help.
Police found him on the home’s floor.
A second shooting victim told police he also was in the housing development to watch the females fight and was leaving with his brother when he heard the gunfire and saw his brother drop to the ground bleeding. He then realized he also had been shot in the legs.
The brothers were taken to the hospital in private vehicles.
