Trumbull Co. to award bids for demolitions

WARREN
Trumbull County commissioners are expected today to award contracts worth $565,561 to four companies to demolish 73 homes under the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
The homes will be in the cities of Girard, Niles and Warren, the village of Newton Falls and the townships of Brookfield, Howland, Hubbard, Liberty and Warren.
The cost works out to an average of $7,747 per demolition.
The contracts to be awarded are $93,500 to C. Crump Inc. of Hubbard; $204,911 to Holton Inc. of Lordstown; $73,850 to M&M Inc. of Lordstown; and $193,300 to Siegel Excavating of Edinburg, Pa.
Funding for the demolitions comes from the third round of the federal program, which is run by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Trumbull County Planning Commission.
Five other companies offered bids on the projects.
