Thousands without power tonight in southern Valley townships

SPRINGFIELD

More than 1,000 township residents were without power tonight, according to the First Energy website.

High winds caused downed power lines at seven locations throughout the area, said Fire Chief Matt Gebharbt. One of the areas included a barn that was blown apart by the winds, he said. The debris then cut a power line causing outages in the area.

The energy website said 660 people in Unity Township and 591 people in Boardman Township were without power at 11 p.m.
