POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:

LIBERTY

July 31

Theft/vandalism: Several parts to a truck in the 1700 block of Wilson Avenue were dismantled, burned or missing.

Aug. 1

Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 193 resulted in the arrest of 40-year-old Tionnie L. Bond, 3033 North Gate Road, Liberty, who was wanted on a Hubbard warrant charging her with theft.

Fraud: A Logan Arms Drive woman told police her lost or stolen debit card was used to make $252 worth of unauthorized purchases.

Arrest: A vehicle registration check on Belmont Avenue led to 32-year-old John E. Hannon’s arrest. Hannon, of 4332 Webster Ave., Youngstown, was accused of failing to appear in court in regards to a health-code violation in Hubbard.

Assault: A Staunton Drive woman sought medical treatment after alleging her husband had shoved her to the ground.

Possible drug activity: A Mansell Drive woman reported the odor of what she thought was marijuana emanating from a neighbor’s home. She also mentioned an unusually high volume of vehicular traffic at the residence.

Aug. 2

Menacing: A Townsend Avenue woman and her daughter alleged the woman’s former husband drove by their residence about six times in 20 minutes, then made unwanted cellphone calls.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of her change purse while at a Liberty Plaza discount store.

Theft: A woman returned to her Oakland Avenue apartment and discovered an end table, two wooden dressers and other property missing, for a loss of about $1,575.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a storage shed in the 5300 block of Belmont Avenue before taking an 18-volt drill and numerous other tools. The theft was estimated at $2,360.

Aug. 3

Assault/burglary: A West Montrose Avenue woman alleged a neighbor, 43, entered her apartment and choked her after the accuser said the neighbor’s children were making too much noise.

Assault/aggravated menacing: A worker with a Belmont Avenue business told police two Youngstown women struck her arm and threatened to kill her during a dispute regarding a faulty machine.

Aug. 5

Breaking and entering: A man checking a residence in the 200 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road noticed a rear door open and that a large amount of copper piping had been cut in the basement.

Theft: Two wallets, about $250 and a debit card were removed from a car in the 10 block of Holly Drive.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue was found with a broken rear windshield. The estimate was $500.

Theft: Roughly $2,700 worth of tools was taken from a car in the 5000 block of Greenbriar Drive.

Burglary: The rear door to a home in the 600 block of Underwood Drive was found ajar after a Wii game system, two laptop computers, $740 and other items had been stolen. The loss came to $1,460.

GIRARD

Aug. 2

Assault: A man alleged a Beechwood Avenue man pushed him down several times during an argument. The accuser was not injured, however.

Recovered property: A dirt bike and several motorcycles were found that were thought to have been stolen during a break-in at a home in the 400 block of Joan Avenue.

Aug. 3

Arrests: Police assisting a probation officer at the Girard Municipal Building on South Market Street charged 41-year-old Ladonna J. Allgood, 204 Porter St. NE, Warren, with aggravated menacing and resisting arrest after alleging Allgood had yelled at and threatened the probation official and refused to cooperate with authorities. Also, James T. Bowers, 32, of 146 Upland Ave., Youngstown, faced the same charges because he became enraged and launched into a tirade after Allgood’s arrest, then refused several times to obey police, a report showed.

Identity fraud: A Forsythe Avenue woman applying online for a cash advance reported being notified that an account had been set up in her name without authorization.

Aug. 4

Trespassing: A man in the 100 block of High Street reported having seen someone run by his garage at night.

Possible theft: A man reported his wallet lost or stolen while at a North Highland Avenue store.

Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 422 led to the arrest of George J. Noe III, 26, of 1132 Thomas-Harbor Road, Hubbard. He was wanted on a warrant.

Harassment: An East Wilson Avenue woman told officers her former boyfriend sent threatening text messages shortly after she ended their relationship.

Assault: Authorities responded to a fight in the 900 block of Gary Avenue, where a woman reported having been thrown to the floor.

Aug. 5

Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Morris Avenue via a rear patio door. Among items stolen were several flat-screen TVs, and an Xbox 360 system, for a loss of $4,050.

Aggravated menacing: A man walking in the 400 block of South Davis Avenue alleged a man came out of his home and swung a box-cutter knife at the accuser.

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed a tomato at the passenger side of a vehicle traveling near Smithsonian Street and North Avenue.

Theft: Two $150 bicycles were stolen in the 500 block of North Ward Avenue.

Possible trespassing: Officers received a complaint about someone on the roof of Mohn’s Auto Service, 710 N. State St., though a check of the building and surroundings failed to turn up anyone.

Theft: The rear license plate was stolen off a vehicle in the 700 block of Trumbull Avenue.
