Patrell Scott gets 10 years in prison for killing girlfriend


YOUNGSTOWN — Patrell Scott shot his girlfriend, and mother of his child, in the neck last year killing the 20-year-old woman. Today a Mahoning County Common Pleas Court judge sentenced him to 10 years behind bars.

Scott was charged with the death of death of Melesia Day.

Scott was set to go on trial for manslaughter earlier this year, but on the eve of his trial elected to plead guilty to the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter and tampering with evidence.

The maximum sentence allowed under the plea agreement is 11 years.
