Ohio judge sentences man in corpse-abuse case

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio judge has sentenced a Michigan man to one year in prison after he was found guilty of sexually abusing a dead woman’s body when he worked at a funeral home.

The Toledo Blade reports Judge Stacy Cook of Lucas County Common Pleas Court sentenced 57-year-old Lawrence Clement of Temperance, Mich., to one year in prison after he was convicted of sexually abusing a corpse. He pleaded no contest last month.

Clement was indicted in March and fired from H.H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home in Toledo after he was found in a compromising position with the corpse of a 51-year-old woman.

The newspaper reports Cook said at the Tuesday sentencing that Clement abused his position of trust.
