The Mahoning Valley Historical Society, Mill Creek MetroParks, Idora Neighborhood Association and Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. are hosting a free public tour of the Idora neighborhood at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Guests will meet at the Youngstown Playhouse parking lot. WRTA will provide buses for the two-hour excursion that will include stops at the Iron Roots Urban Farm, a walking tour of historic Volney Road and Ottawa Drive, Ford Nature Center and other unique sites. The historical society will provide insight into the neighborhood’s and MetroParks’ significant history. The INA and YNDC will provide an update on the ongoing revitalization efforts in the neighborhood.

The township trustees meeting scheduled for today at the township government center has been canceled.
Bond issue rejected
Columbiana
Voters rejected a 1.237-mill bond issue for the Columbiana School District in a special election Tuesday.
Unofficial election results from both Columbiana and Mahoning counties show 963 votes cast against the measure and 427 in favor. A precinct each in Beaver and Springfield townships is part of the school district.
The 29-year bond issue was to raise $4 million for improvements to the South Side Middle School and its grounds.
The school district was the only Mahoning Valley entity with an issue for a special election. Two measures in Newton Falls were previously withdrawn from the ballot.
Death investigation
WARREN
Warren and Warren Township police have begun to analyze a Buick Rendezvous found by Niles police Monday afternoon for possible evidence in the death of Jamaul R. Jones.
The car, found in the parking lot of Eastwood Arms Apartments on Arms Boulevard, belonged to Jones, 28, of Burton Street Southeast.
Jones was reported missing July 9 after going to a house on Meadowbrook Avenue Southeast and not returning.
His body was found July 11 in a vacant field on Dover Avenue Southeast in Warren Township. Police believe Jones’ death was drug-related.
Rolling Cash winner
SALEM
A resident of Salem will collect half of a $120,000 jackpot after having five numbers in the Rolling Cash 5 game. Teresa A. Hixson won $60,000 in the June 18 drawing after having one of the two winning tickets sold in the game.
After mandatory federal and state taxes totaling 31 percent are withheld, Hixson receives $41,400. She picked the winning numbers, 4-10-19-21-28.
Hixson purchased the winning ticket from Suburban Market, 667 New Garden Avenue. Suburban Market receives a $500 agent bonus for selling a five of five winning ticket.
The other winning ticket sold in this game was purchased at a Convenient Food Mart in North Olmsted. That ticket has not been claimed.
Suspect tracked
New Castle, pa.
An Ellwood City man is a suspect in several burglaries in Lawrence, Beaver and Mercer counties, said Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said they caught William Edward Balin Jr., 22, when he was breaking into a Shenango Township residence Aug. 2. Police said they tracked Balin from the air, using laser and digital technology, from his residence on Sunset Boulevard to the Shenango house. They saw him force his way through a sliding-glass door. Troopers on the ground arrested him. Balin is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief.
