Backpacks are needed in program to feed kids
NEWTON FALLS
The Newton Falls Backpack Program needs backpacks.
Those who have any that they aren’t using are asked to donate them. They can be dropped off at the Church Mouse, 261/2 W. Broad St.
The backpacks are used to give food to kids who may not have enough to eat, and there are many such children in Newton Falls. Cyndi Hogue and other volunteers pack food for kids in the backpacks and distribute them on Fridays so they have enough to eat over the weekend, when school is not in session.
The child returns the empty backpack to the school. They are picked up, cleaned and used again.
The number of backpacks being given out is about 40 per week, and more always are needed.
Donations to buy food can be made to Cyndi Hogue. Drop them off at the Church Mouse, which will give them to her.
