Elizabeth Smart coming to the Mahoning Valley in September

GIRARD — Elizabeth Smart, a nationally known kidnapping survivor and prominent child protection advocate, will be speaking in the Mahoning Valley for the first time when she appears in September at the First Anniversary Healthy Woman Expo & Dinner sponsored by ValleyCare Health System of Ohio.

Smart is scheduled to speak Sept. 19 at the Mahoning County Club, 710 E. Liberty St.

The event begins with the free Women’s Health Expo from 4 to 6 p.m. that is open to the public.

The expo will include health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and bone density. ValleyCare physicians, nurses and staff will provide information on a wide range of women’s health issues. Plus, the expo will include dozens of booths featuring products and services of interest to women.
