Doctor found dead in hotel room

A Hubbard doctor accused of operating a pill mill in southern Ohio was found dead in a Liberty Township hotel room.

Victor A. Georgescu, 51, of Rebecca Avenue, was found at the Super 8 Motel located on Belmont Avenue.

According to reports, an employee alerted township police to a man unresponsive in a hotel room at 11:23 a.m. Saturday.

Police found a bottle of vodka and a plastic cup used to mix prescription medication after entering the room.

In May, Georgescu was indicted by a Scioto County grand jury on 24 counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs and 10 counts of trafficking in drugs.

Georgescu was out on bond and his trial was scheduled for September.

He was indicted along with George Michael Adkins, who faces nine counts of trafficking in drugs, seven counts of forgery, and one count of corrupt activity.

His case is pending.

The Trumbull County Coroner’s office and police are investigating.
