Burglary suspect tracked from air in New Castle with laser, digital technology

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

An Ellwood City man is a suspect in several burglaries in Lawrence, Beaver and Mercer counties, said Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said they caught William Edward Balin Jr., 22, when he was breaking into a Shenango Township residence Aug. 2.

Police said they tracked Balin from the air, using laser and digital technology, from his residence on Sunset Boulevard to the Shenango house.

They saw him force his way through a sliding-glass door.

Troopers on the ground arrested him.

Balin is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief.
