Stage Left Players offer combat class
LISBON
Stage Left Players will have a one-week intensive Stage Combat and Special Effects class for grades 4-12 the week of Aug. 13-17 at Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way. Instructors Darrell Cleland and Ali Cleland will show participants the principles of stage hand-to-hand combat, fencing techniques and character work.
Students also will learn the art of special-effects makeup, including scars, bruises, blood, cuts and facial hair.
Cost is $125 with a $25 deposit due at signup. Each participant will receive a basic stage makeup kit and T-shirt.
There will be a performance and reception at 7 p.m. Aug. 17. Call 330-831-7249 to register. Deadline is Wednesday.
Latino food fest
Youngstown
The Hispanic-American Civic and Cultural Organization (OCCHA), 3660 Shirley Road, will have an international Latino food fest from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
The event will offer examples of the specialty foods of Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Venezuela and other countries. Proceeds will benefit OCCHA’s children’s programs.
Arts in the Park
NEWTON FALLS
The second annual Arts in the Park festival will be Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at Veterans Park. The event will include a show and sale of art made by local artists and craftsmen, as well as live music and the opportunity to make art.
Artist Kip Minnick will paint at the event. Cartoonist Brian Starkey will showcase his animation and his original board game.
