HandsOn network seeks nominations for awards

HandsOn Volunteer Network of the Valley is calling for nominations for the HandsOn Volunteer Network Awards.

Nominated individuals must be serving in a nonprofit organization, educational institution or residential health care facility.

The award ceremony, set for November, honors nominated volunteers from Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

The HandsOn Volunteer Network Award recognizes volunteers who consistently display a high level of commitment to volunteerism and, through their service, promote an ethic of civic engagement to their community, according to an organization press release.

Awards will be given in these categories:

Individual: One volunteer or couple exemplifying a strong volunteer ethic.

Youth: A high-school-aged student for exemplary volunteerism benefiting the Mahoning Valley, or who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in promoting volunteerism.

Group: A group of three or more adults, youths, or both, engaged in ongoing and outstanding volunteer service benefiting the Mahoning Valley.

The Virginia Leskanic RSVP Navigator Award: Open to those RSVP Lead With Experience volunteers in good standing and serving in high impact placements.

The HandsOn Corporate Partner Award: Chosen by the board and staff of HandsOn Volunteer Network and presented to an organization with a distinguished service record and a corporate philosophy of giving back to the community.

Inspiring Young Heart Award: A young person age 5 to 12 exhibiting an early commitment to volunteerism in school, with family members or within a group of peers.
