Coroner: Inmate strangled at W.Pa. prison

EBENSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say an inmate was found strangled with a bed sheet at a prison in western Pennsylvania.

Twenty-seven-year-old William Sherry was found dead Saturday night in the Cambria County Prison. Coroner Dennis Kwiatkowski tells The Altoona Mirror that Sherry was strangled with a piece of a bed sheet.

State police are calling the death a homicide and indicated that there had been a fight.

Court records indicate Sherry had been arrested last week on a bench warrant for a probation violation.
