Historian will discuss his Civil War book

Lester Horwitz, author of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated book “The Longest Raid of the Civil War,” will present a free programSFlbat 2 p.m. Saturday at the Warren- Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW.

The book chronicles the true story of Confederate Gen. John Hunt Morgan’s raid into Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio in July 1863. Horwitz, a historian, will discuss the unique characteristics of this daring raid, its effect on the Civil War and on civilians.

Rowling webcast will promote Potter club

NEW YORK

J.K. Rowling’s next book is for adults, but she will be on hand this fall to help promote a new club for kids, the Harry Potter Reading Club.

Scholastic Inc. announced that Rowling will participate in a live webcast at noon Oct. 11, taking live questions from her young fans for the first time since 2007, when the last “Potter” book came out.
