RB Jordan Thompson not on roster as YSU camp begins

Junior RB Jordan Thompson is not on YSU's roster as the team begins training camp.

Thompson rushed for 400 yards last season, including a key 38-yard run that set up a touchdown in YSU's upset win over eventual champion North Dakota State. He was expected to earn the backup running back job this season and was considered one of the team's most athletic players.

UPDATE: At today's media day, Penguins coach Eric Wolford said the departure is academics-related. Thompson has had issues with his grades in the past.

The Penguins hold their first practice today at 4 p.m.
